Library Survey

We are currently conducting a survey about library services. As the library and the community have grown, we want to make sure that our services reflect the needs of our patrons and members of the community.
Please stop by the library or the Town Hall to pick up a copy or you can respond to the survey online at

Thanks

Thanks to Bob Davis for your donation of scissors. Right handers and left handers are both happy!

Bed Time Story

Bedtime Story Showdown: NPR
by Emily Wylie

All Things Considered, March 9, 2009 · It can loom over you, one more hurdle before bedtime, especially when your child hits the over-and-over stage, loving the one book you hate, the one you've seen your partner try to "lose" under the bed, the one which, if your obsessed child finds it again, you will help lose permanently in an accident involving the paper shredder.

Saturday at the library

Bob and his dog are at the library trying to find a book to read. Marley and Me was their final choice. Please stop by and we can help your dog find a good book.

WIFI updates

WIFI is up and running!
You can now access the internet at the library using your own laptop or the library's laptop. You should be able to access this 24/7 even when the library is not open. If you have problems please let us know by stopping by when we are open, send an email to russellmemoriallibrary@comcast.net, drop a note in the book deposit box to the right of the library door or leave a phone message. Oh yes, the library now has an answering machine! The librarians are able to help you with simple requests regarding these services.
In the near future we will offer scan and copy services and fax service. Please be patient with us as we get up to speed with these new services.

Town Meeting Day - come and gone, changes on the Board

With Town Meeting Day come and gone, the library has seen some changes in our Board of Trustees. We extend many thanks to Marilyn Cargill and Laura Farrell for their work on the library board over the past several years. Laura helped to make sure that folks new to the community of Monkton felt welcome to the library and organized our silent auction at the Strawberry Festival. Under Marilyn's leadership as Chairperson of the Board, Russell Library met state standards and is now eligible for many services through the Department of Libraries. We have also improved our collections and our programming.
Welcome to our new board members, Margaret Roddy and Sandra True. We are looking forward to working with both Sandra and Margaret on new projects and planning for the Strawberry Festival in June.
